Český egyptologický ústav Vás zve na přednášku Andrzeje Ćwieka: The Burial of Baka(?) or Where Was the Owner of the Unfinished Pyramid at Zawiyet el-Aryan Entombed?
Přednáška proběhne ve čtvrtek 5.12.2024 od 17:00 v prostorách Českého egyptologického ústavu.
Anotace: Much ink has been spilled on the description of the Unfinished Pyramid at Zawiyet el-Aryan, an incredibly ambitious architectural project, and on possible readings of the name of its owner, identified by various scholars as Baka, Nebka, Sekhemka, Neferka, Sethka or Wekhemka (and the list is probably longer). One issue is, however, passed by almost undiscussed, namely where was this enigmatic ruler entombed. The state of his monument as found excludes the possibility that the oval sarcophagus had ever contained his body. The answer must therefore refer to the person of his immediate successor (whose duty was to bury his predecessor), and be in relation with his works. Locating the king Baka(?) in his proper chronological place in the Fourth Dynasty enables to explain an enigmatic feature in the tomb of his successor, which suggests that he monument might have contained the burials of two pharaohs, joined in their destiny in the afterlife.
