Solar cult and royal ideology in Ancient Egypt: old evidences, new discoveries, latest approaches

The third, final, workshop discussing recent research on the sun cult in ancient Egypt “Solar cult and royal ideology in Ancient Egypt: old evidences, new discoveries, latest approaches” will be organized by the GAČR project „The Rise and Development of the Solar Cult and Architecture in 3rd Mill. BC“ on June, 25th-26th, 2019 in the Academic Conference Centre, Prague. The papers will not concentrate only on the sun cult and its manifestations during the Third Millennium BC – with a special focus on results of the recent terrain works in the sun temple of Niuserre in Abu Gurab. They shall also debate the further development and relationship of the sun cult with the royal mortuary cult and royal ideology during later periods on a basis of work in the field of archaeology, architecture, history, epigraphic and religious sources. Everybody is welcomed.
