Egyptologist with long-term experience in archaeological and epigraphical work in Egypt. He focuses on the questions of Egyptian archaeology and history in the 1st millennium B.C. and the related development of ancient Egyptian religious concepts. He also concentrates on the history of Egyptological research in the Czech Republic. He has taken part in archaeological works in the A.R. E. since 1974. Between the years 2000 and 2004 he was the director of project sponsored by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports no. LN00A064, “Czech National Centre for Egyptology”. In terms of the current project of the Research Plan, he coordinates the subprojects focussing on the religious and spiritual traditions of ancient Egypt and the history and culture of ancient Egypt. At the Faculty of Arts, he is teaching courses in ancient Egyptian history, archaeology and religion. He is member of The Egypt Exploration Society (London), The International Association of Egyptologists, and the Czech Society for Oriental Studies.
