The research at Jebel Sabaloka focuses on the understanding of the environment and the waysof its exploitation in the past. The natural science experts that engage in this study must sometimestravel to rather remote areas. For example, the vegetation that surrounded this region’shunter-gatherer populations 8,000–11,000 years ago can be investigated today near the borderwith Ethiopia (600 km southeast of Jebel Sabaloka).
