Hana Vymazalová je egyptoložka s dlouholetými zkušenostmi s archeologickým výzkumem a dokumentací v Egyptě. Zabývá se vývojem staroegyptského hospodářství a zaměřuje se především na účetní dokumenty z doby 5. dynastie a hospodářství královských zádušních komplexů ve Staré říši. Věnuje se rovněž staroegyptské vědě, zejména matematice starověkého Egypta, jejímu vývoji a praktickému využití v písařské praxi, a egyptskému lékařství. Je autorkou a spoluautorkou řady článků a monografií, včetně Builders and Priest of the Pharaohs: Selected Aspects of the Administration and Economy of the Old-Kingdom Pyramid Complexes (2024), či Medicine of the Ancient Egyptians (2014, 2021). Od roku 2006 se účastní českých archeologických výzkumů v Abúsíru a od roku 2015 je členem egyptské archeologické mise na Džedkareově pohřebišti v jižní Sakkáře. Jako profesorka Egyptologie (od roku 2025) přednáší na Univerzitě Karlově.
